  • Barbara Morrison Live at the 9:20 Special

Barbara Morrison Live at the 9:20 Special Jazz/Essential. This is a must have for any modern-day Lindy Hopper and Jazz fan. Barbara has an incredible voice as well as personality and spunk, and that certainly shows in this live recording session at one of San Francisco’s most popular swing dance venue, the 9:20 Special. If you had been there in May 2002, at one point you would have seen people stop dancing just to watch and listen to her sing. Every track in this collection is danceable. I should know, cause I was privileged to be there!

  • Live in Swing City – Swingin’ With Duke

Live in Swing City – Swingin’ With Duke – Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. An Essential. Favorites include Happy Go-Lucky Local, C-Jam Blues, Bli-Blip, and the lesser known, but equally good Black and Tan Fantasy. This album might be the exception in the Essentials group of cds where I stated 75% of the tracks are danceble. Who knows? YOU might be able to dance to most of them. In any case, at least half the tracks are danceable, and what tracks they are. Highest recommendation.

    Song list:

    1. Happy Go Lucky
    2. Main Stem
    3. C Jam Blues
    4. Multi Colored Blue
    5. Chinoiserie
    6. Black & Tan Fantasy
    7. Cottontail
    8. Mood Indigo
    9. Bli-Blip
    10. Harlem Air Shaft
    11. Portrait Of Louis Armstrong
